Here's how fees work at First Bites, and the funding pathways that may reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
Sessions are available in-clinic at Yarraville and by telehealth. Fees are payable at the time of your appointment, and we can provide receipts for rebate claims.
For current session fees, please contact us at hello@firstbites.com.au or call 03 9687 3040. Initial consultations are billed at a higher rate than standard sessions, as they include a comprehensive feeding assessment and report.
We welcome self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Feeding and mealtime supports delivered by a speech pathologist can be funded when they relate to your child's plan goals.
We provide invoices that meet NDIS requirements and can liaise with your plan manager or support co-ordinator as required. If you're unsure how your child's plan is managed or whether feeding supports fit their goals, get in touch.
Your GP may be able to refer your child under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), which provides a Medicare rebate for a limited number of allied health sessions each calendar year. A gap fee applies. Speak to your GP about whether your child is eligible as you will need the referral and plan in place before your first appointment to claim the rebate.
Many private health insurance extras policies provide cover for speech pathology. Your rebate will depend on your health fund and level of cover, so we recommend checking with your insurer before your appointment. Speech pathology is usually listed under 'Speech Pathology' or 'Speech Therapy'.
We provide itemised receipts, and eligible claims can be processed in-clinic at the time of your appointment.
We understand that children get sick and plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer the appointment to another family.
Where appropriate, we may also be able to offer an alternative service, such as telehealth, rather than cancelling your appointment altogether.
